In Association with the Royal British Legion

Henry Worsley, leader of the two-man Amundsen team, dedicates Day 59′s report to ReMark, a generous sponsor of the race. It’s a day of rest for Henry and Lou, and aren’t we all glad to hear it after yesterday’s worrying report of frostbitten faces and fingers. Winds gusting up to 25mph, bringing temperatures as low as -44 degrees, made the decision to stay in their tent, read and make minor kit repairs, all the more easy. Henry reflects briefly on the race as it enters its final days, with the pole less than two weeks away.

SCOTT TEAM

Total distance travelled: 528.8 nmi

LISTEN TO THE AUDIO REPORT

To kick things off, Kev Johnson of Team Scott wishes everyone a happy New Year, from friends and family to even their beloved pets! As for Day 59 itself, it was a day of strong winds and cold temperatures for Team Scott as well as the Amundsen contingent. A large hill puts paid to their plans to walk for 9 hours, but despite ending the day early, they still manage an excellent 12.3 nautical miles.
